About Dr. whitaker
Manya Whitaker, PhD is an Associate Professor of Education at Colorado College where she teaches courses on social and political issues in education. She earned her doctorate in developmental psychology at Vanderbilt University immediately after earning a B.A. in educational psychology at Dartmouth College.
Dr. Whitaker most recently published Schooling Multicultural Teachers: A Guide for Program Assessment and Professional Development. She is also the author of Learning from the Inside-Out: Child Development and School Choice and the co-editor of Counternarratives from Women of Color Academics: Bravery, Vulnerability, and Resistance. She researches the development and maintenance of pre-service teachers’ diversity beliefs, values and attitudes as they relate to teaching culturally and linguistically diverse learners.
