Blueprint Educational Strategies provides individualized
educational guidance for students, families and PreK-16 educators. From the creation of learning plans and workshops to finding funds for college, I help clients on a one-time or continual basis throughout all levels of the teaching
and learning process. Unlike most educational consultants, I work at the micro level so I can ascertain clients' needs, develop an appropriate plan and ensure quality service. Please visit Blueprint Educational Strategies for more information!
Workshops & Trainings
Workshops and trainings are primarily conducted with K-12 teachers, staff and administrators. The curricula are grounded in psychological, sociological and educational theories and are focused on the demographic of interest to participants. Workshops can be tailored to fit the needs (topic, size,
duration, etc) of participants, but all include opportunities to develop and practice concrete skills in transforming theory to praxis. Common workshop topics include Culturally Relevant
Teaching, Engaging Hard-to-Reach Parents, Warm Demander Classroom Management Techniques, Unique Needs of Urban
Students, Teaching White Privilege.
Presentations of my research or of data/information about related areas can be useful for large groups whose primary intention is initial exposure to new content. Most
presentations will be grounded in recent educational data with a clear link to education policy and practice. All presentations include time for questions and answer sessions and will almost always have handouts. When applicable, pdfs and ppts of presentation materials can be made available.
I am often asked to speak to groups of parents or students at particular events. I get the most pleasure in interacting with students so I find these opportunities especially gratifying and humbling. Topics for keynote addresses are decided
upon in concert with hosting organizations, but the structure of keynotes rarely include interactive components such as small group activities or question and answer sessions.
Supporting Learning/Diagnosing Difficulties & Giftedness
To help students achieve their potential, I am available to support students who are experiencing academic or social difficulties including struggles with time management, organization, study skills, engagement, attention, and not being challenged. In most cases, students don't need content-based tutoring; they need help developing the cognitive skills underlying learning.
With the rising cost of higher education it is extremely difficult to save enough to pay tuition, room, board, books and travel expenses. Every year millions of dollars of scholarship funds go unclaimed. I can help find scholarships for which your family and child are eligible and help you with the application process. Deadlines for scholarships coincide with college application deadlines, so let me help you with both!
Choosing the Best College/School for You
So often parents and prospective students are overwhelmed by the thousands of educational options available. I work with individuals and families to find the college, school or program that best fits their personal interests, goals, developmental and academic needs, as well as their life context.
Preparing Admissions Materials
After choosing the appropriate school you must prepare a competitive application package. I do not provide test preparation courses; however, I assist applicants with writing personal statements/essays, developing a CV/resume, securing letters of recommendation, and preparing for the interview process.
